Creating Narrated PowerPoint Presentations using IMPATICA

Nov. 8 – Dec. 6

Taught by Lisa Pirinelli

Coordinator of Distance Learning

Niagara County CC

In this 4 week course you will learn how to create multimedia slide shows that can be compressed via Impatica and delivered on the Internet at regular modem speeds.  You can deliver online lectures to your students, which can include animation, graphics, transitions, and narrations. Impatica for PowerPoint converts PPT files into a compressed format that can be streamed over the Internet and the file size is normally 95% smaller than the PPT HTML file. You can add the compressed file to your course management system or upload it to a regular web server. Your students will only need speakers and the java sun plug in to view your presentations.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to Impatica and Educational Uses
  • Creating a Basic PowerPoint slide show
  • Narrating a PowerPoint
  • Impaticizing and uploading your compressed file to your course management system or web server
  • Pedagogical uses

For this course you will need access to PowerPoint and should be familiar with making basic PowerPoint presentations. You can either download a free evaluation copy of the IMPATICA for PowerPoint software or purchase the software, which is under SUNY contract pricing.   You will also need a good microphone in order to create the narrated slide shows.

This course will run on the ANGEL course management system.
